Beyond Birth
Your ultimate guide to thriving in the first year postpartum
But who's going to teach you the stuff that actually *matters* when you're going to be caring for a baby for the first time ever? (Spoiler alert: I am)
MENTAL HEALTH: Learn everything you need to know about all the postpartum feels, and build the right support to help you thrive.
SLEEP: Have a solid plan in place to help you get more rest, no matter what kind of sleeper your baby is.
BREASTFEEDING AND MORE: Build a village of support around you, recover better from your birth, strengthen your relationships. And that's just the start.
Having a baby is one of the most life-changing things we can do. We all want to go into parenthood feeling confident and we all want to enjoy that precious time.
But the problem is, no one is really preparing us for the first few weeks and months with our babies.
Instead of honouring the huge transition we're going through, and giving us all the rest and support we need, people just try to sell us a million baby gadgets, clothes and toys, and tell us to decorate an Instagram-worthy nursery.
What we end up with is a life that looks picture perfect on the outside, but is exhausting and overwhelming behind closed doors.
I'm a perinatal counsellor, parenting cheerleader and mother. I've worked with hundreds of parents struggling in silence and it's my mission to make early parenthood way more fun and way less sh*t.
I know how it feels to be pregnant and to feel anxious about the arrival of the baby.
I tried my best to prepare for those early days of parenthood, but there were so many things *no one* told me.
A few years on, after working for a national perinatal mental health organisation and hearing hundreds of parents' stories, I believe - more than anything - we need 2 things:
1. Realistic expectations.
2. Practical and emotional support.
I've witnessed the differences between parents who have these two things, and those who don't - and those differences can be stark.
Here are all the logistics and nitty gritty details:
You'll get to be one of the first people to experience this program, and learn how to thrive in the early days with your baby.
In return, I'd love your feedback. I'm committed to making sure the course is incredibly valuable to new parents. Your feedback will be a crucial part of that process.
The course is for parents (singles or couples) who are about to bring home a baby for the first time. Most will be in the second or third trimester of pregnancy.
Alongside the comprehensive course content, you also have access to the incredible knowledge of these professionals
BREASTFEEDING: An expert interview builds on the course content, and goes deep into everything that can help, if you're planning to breastfeed. In this conversation, I'm joined by Sarah Thijs-Smit (IBCLC at The Breast Help), and Kathryn Stagg (IBCLC and expert on multiples).
SLEEP: I've gathered three of the foremost global experts on baby sleep for this fascinating conversation which delves deep into the research and busts major myths about sleep in the first year. I'm passionate about evidence-based, holistic and gentle sleep support without sleep training, and am delighted to be joined by Dr Greer Kirshenbaum (Nurture Neuroscience Parenting), Professor Helen Ball (director of Durham Infancy & Sleep Centre), and Dr Lyndsey Hookway (the Holistic Sleep Coaching Program).
Here's a sneak peek of the course curriculum.
I don't want you to have those regrets.
It breaks my heart when parents tell me they're going to approach life with their second baby completely differently - and actually enjoy it the second time around.
Because they deserved to have that experience with their first, too.
I have poured my heart and soul into creating the resource that I wish my clients could have had before their first baby was born.
It's what I wish my friends could have had.
It's what I wish I could have had.
I cannot wait to give it to you.
Let's make sure you go into this exciting new phase of life with as much support and preparation as you possibly can. You deserve to be deeply cared for, and I'm here to make sure you are.
“When I had my first baby, I did so much prep for the birth, that I kind of forgot about everything that comes after it. I bought lots of 'stuff' but didn't realise what kind of support I actually needed. I wish I'd had Claire to guide me through that time. I might have enjoyed it a lot more.”
- Kim“One thing I really appreciated was that you didn't tell me what to do. You made me feel confident, and you helped me tune out all the stressful 'advice' I was getting. That alone was such a gift, honestly.”
Jessie“I wish I could go back in time and have you as my postpartum counsellor. What you offer is so f$#cking good! I spiralled into so much anxiety after my son was born, and it could have been avoided had I had more support.”
